For nearly 20 years, the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project has helped the endangered mountain gorilla populations in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) survive through providing veterinary care for human-caused or life-threatening illnesses and injuries. With teams of experienced personnel, MGVP veterinarians track ailing gorillas and treat them when needed inside their native habitat.

MGVP has partnered with WWHPS as the organizations fiscal umbrella since January of 2008.  MGVP recognizes the importance of the WWHPS project to improve the health of the local Rwandan population, and in doing so, to help protect the highly endangered gorillas.
