Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa

This is a call to the living,
To those who refuse to make peace with evil,
With the suffering and the waste of the world.
This is a call to the human, not the perfect,
To those who know their own prejudices
Who have no intention of becoming prisoners of their own limitations.
This is a call to those who remember the dreams of their youth,
who know what it means to share foot and shelter
The care of children and those who are troubled,
To reach beyond barriers of the past bringing people to communion.

This is a call to the never ending spirit of the common man,
His essential decency and integrity,
His unending capacity to suffer and endure,
To face death and destruction and to rise again
And build from the ruins of life.
This is the greatest call of all
The call to a faith in people.

Congratulations to Ro Wyman and CCHIPs for receiving

Management Systems

To ensure the most efficient and effective use of all health center resources

Especially in a resource limited setting, a strong management system is necessary in order to allocate resources efficiently and effectively. CCHIPs works to improve health center management through (i) the optimization of routine practices and then (ii) the promotion of strategic planning and decision making. We work in 4 areas of management:

-          Human Resources: Help allocate personnel to better support health center development, allow for advancement within the system and teach management skills. Improve the organization structure to simplify staff reporting and work organization.

-          Finances: Ensure that all income is quickly and completely collected, that all expenses promote health center operations and strategic development, and that records for all income and expenses are accurately and completely recorded. Promote cost-cutting strategies for non-medical expenses. Planning on conducting a study of the cost-effectiveness of services offered by the health center.

-          Pharmacy: Develop a system to better organize, distribute, monitor, and predict the usage of all health center drugs.

-          Data: Improve the recording, collection, input and analysis of health center data so that it is done accurately and in a timely manner. Develop a system to present to and share with the health center staff information collected from data.
